Moving in a retirement resident? |
The steps to a successful move:
Circle your moving day on your calendar. Book a moving company for the day. Reserve an elevator in the residence. Check the dimensions of your new lodgings to ensure that you have adequate space for your belongings. Store or sell any surplus furniture. Check whether you need any furnishings to fill your new lodgings. Find out if pets are allowed in your new residence. Find a host family for any animals that are not accepted. Find out if wall hangings or any other types of decoration are permitted in your new lodgings. Find out whether you can paint your new lodgings. Take the time needed to decorate your lodgings before your belongings arrive. Start sorting your personal belongings several weeks before the move. Identify your moving boxes: mark their content and the room they are destined for. Mark as “FRAGILE” any boxes containing pieces liable to break. Ensure that you have someone to help you arrange your furniture and belongings in your new lodgings. Be sure to send change-of-address notification to all your service providers.
... Happy moving!
